2019 Winter Festivals & Events

Many people are now suffering from the Post Holiday Blues, luckily VinneVanGO has a list of fantastic and amazing winter festivals that will surely lift your spirits.

Miami Marathon

January 27th

If you live in a colder climate the Miami Marathon is a great excuse to enjoy the heat while maintaining your New Year’s resolution. The high-energy marathon with beautiful views of South Florida, allows you to run through paradise. There will also be 15 Miami-style entertainment stations keeping your morale high. The course is relatively flat and weaves through downtown, over bridges as well as along the Biscayne Bay and Atlantic Oceans’ turquoise waters.

Chicago Restaurant Week

Jan. 25 – Feb. 7

Chicago’s biggest dining event of the year takes place from Jan. 25 – Feb. 7 in restaurants all around town. The 12th-annual Chicago Restaurant Week will be the largest ever, with nearly 400 local restaurants participating. Take advantage of two weeks of dining deals at award-winning spots and hidden gems throughout the city and suburbs. Special prix fixe menus start at $24 for brunch and lunch, and $36 or $48 for dinner.

Toronto Light Fest

January 18- March 3rd

The Distillery Historic District will host this year’s festival that plans to take visitors along a visual journey which is designed to entertain, inspire, and make use of all your senses. The Toronto Light Fest will transform the historic picturesque community of Distillery into one of the largest open-air galleries in the world- lighting the skies with works from local and international artists.

Sundance Film Festival

January 24- February 3rd

For the movie buff, there no greater place to witness some of the year’s biggest films before they hit the big screen. The rich and famous alike, descend on Park City, UT once a year for the annual film festival, with over 50,000 attendees this independent film fest is the largest in the US. Notable films that debuted at Sundance are Get Out, The Usual Suspects, Little Miss Sunshine and Saw.

Sydney Festival

January 2019

There’s no event as inextricably linked to summer in this city as Sydney Festival. The annual three-week event, running throughout January, always features an eclectic line-up of theatre, dance, circus, music, visual arts and talks. It’s primarily an arts festival, but its remit extends far beyond – with excess of 100 events which attract approximately 500,000 people to its large-scale free outdoor events, Sydney Festival is truly one of the largest events in the world.

Chinese New Year Parade in NYC

February 5th

Ring in the year of the Pig during Chinatown’s annual Chinese New Year Parade. The festivities include dragon dancing, martial art performers, firecrackers and amazing stunning outfits to celebrate Chinese culture and tradition. The parade starts on Mott & Canal in Chatham Square and works its way down East Broadway toward the Manhattan Bridge. After the festivities are over stop at more than 100 restaurants to enjoy delicious Chinese cuisine.

Mardi Gras

February 28-March 5

The most popular time to visit New Orleans is the extended weekend before Mardi Gras. There is no bigger party and parade than the sites of the Endymion, Bacchus and Zulu. Mardi Gras is an ancient celebration but each year a theme is selected – in 2019 it’s the Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale. Visit to enjoy the floats, dancers and of course the famous New Orleans Gumbo.

Winter Wonder Grass

February – March

This winter festival is a staple to small towns across the country. The Winter Wonder Grass brings big-name bluegrass bands to small mountain towns every winter. This year heads to Vermont’s Stratton Resort for the first time. Railroad Earth, the Infamous Stringdusters, and Keller and the Keels will headline. Enjoy the pavilions and sample craft beer and food truck specials during this year’s tour through Colorado Springs, CO and Squaw Valley California.
