The highlight of every July 4 celebration is always a spectacular fireworks display. The travel experts at The GO Group, LLC has these recommendations for maximum “oohs” and “aahs.” If you happen to be in one of these GO cities on the holiday.
The Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular is an annual, free outdoor 4th of July concert at the DCR Hatch Shell on the Esplanade. The show begins at 9:30 p.m. and will feature local performers and the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra along with the Tanglewood Festival Chorus. Included will be Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture with real cannons, the live ringing of area church bells and The Stars & Stripes Forever with the ceremonial American flag drop and confetti shot. The Spectacular will be capped off by a fireworks array above Boston.
Fair Saint Louis is three days of free family fun underneath its famous Gateway Arch. Musical guests include Trace Adkins on July 4; Bret Michaels on July and Counting Crows on July 6. The event includes activities for kids of all ages, five air shows and the Freedom 4-Miler and Family Fun Run. Fireworks take place on all three days at 9:30 p.m.
In addition to its regular Wednesday and Saturday displays, Chicago’s Navy Pier will add an extra show to its schedule, with perfectly synchronized to music. on July 4. Attendees can view from the pier, along the lakefront or on a dinner cruise aboard one of many sightseeing boats.
Orlando offers many fireworks displays to entertain visitors and residents. This year the Magic Kingdom will host its show seven days beginning on July 1, at 9 p.m. and continuing every evening through July 7, featuring classic Americana music and ending with the Star Spangled Banner. Fireworks can be seen throughout the park but the best spot is going to be on Main Street USA with Cinderella Castle in the foreground. Thousands of spectators are expected to come to Lakefront Park in Downtown Kissimmee’s for its 4th of July with fireworks, which are shown over one of Orlando’s largest lakes in Lake Toho. Live music and food vendors are setup from 5pm until 9:30pm and the show begins at 9:10 p.m.
San Francisco celebrates Independence Day at PIER 39 with a day of family fun, live music and entertainment culminating in a fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. Watch from the pier or while enjoying a dinner and dance cruise aboard the California Hornblower from 6:30 – 11 p.m.
