8 Travel Opportunities You can Enjoy Right Now

VinnieVanGO believes that everyone should be able to travel, regardless of their budget. He reached out to writer Jane Hurst to best explain life-hacks to enjoy the trills of traveling while on a budget.

Just because you don’t have a lot of money, it doesn’t mean that you can’t travel and see the world. Sure, you probably won’t be staying in any four-star hotels, but there are plenty of travel opportunities for anyone, with any budget. You can explore places in your own area, or find plenty of ways to travel abroad without a lot of money. If you are ready to pack your bags and head off on the adventure of a lifetime, keep reading to find out how you can do just that.

1) Stay Close to Home

If you don’t think that you are going to be able to travel on your current budget, there are still plenty of fun things you can do. For instance, you can go online and see what there is to do in and around your state. You might be surprises at how much fun you can have so close to home.

2) Work on an Organic Farm

If you don’t mind putting in four to six hours of labor each day while you are traveling, you can try your hand at WWOOFing. This is when you offer your services to local farmers, who in turn will give you a place to
stay and food to eat. When you are not working, you are free to explore the area and immerse yourself in the culture.

3) Try a Semester at Sea

Even if you are no longer a student, it doesn’t mean that you can’t take part in a semester at sea. You will be able to enjoy a cruise with college students, see the world, and even earn a few extra credits. This is a lot less expensive than taking a regular cruise, and you will also be learning new things.

4) Work on a Cruise Ship

A great way to see the world, and get paid to do it, is to get a job on a cruise ship. The best way to apply is to contact the major cruise lines directly and send them your resume (check some resume templates before sending yours to impress an HR manager). You can find more information on their websites. Jobs range from housekeeping to wait staff to kitchen help and more.

5) Become an Au Pair

You can travel without spending any of your own money when you choose to work as an AU Pair for a family in another part of the world. This will give you a chance to learn about a new culture and learn the language, and you will be living with a family so you won’t be alone in a strange land.

6) Become a Crew Member

How would you like to be a crew member on a yacht? You really don’t have to know anything about seamanship (it could help you to get a paid position though) in order to volunteer your services on a yacht. There are all kinds of jobs that you can easily do that require no experience.

7) Work Remotely

Another way that you can earn money while you travel is to become a remote worker. There are many different ways that you can do this. If you are currently employed, you might ask your employer if they have any remote work opportunities. You could also start freelancing on sites such as Upwork.com. You can set your own hours, and work from anywhere.

8) Set Up a Group Tour

If you have friends or family members who also want to travel, and you have similar interests, you could try organizing a group tour to a specific area. Most travel companies will offer group rates, and often, the group leader or organizer is offered better rates, and sometimes their trips are even free.
