Vinnie Van GO Says Celebrate Earth Day at these Events!

In celebration of Earth Day, April 22, Vinnie Van GO recommends these events offering fun for the entire family. Eco-minded travelers are encouraged to participate whether at home or on the road.

San Francisco:

The San Francisco Earth Day 2017 Festival & Climate Rally draws more than 10,000 people from the Bay Area and beyond. Held at the Civic Center, the free event offers entertainment, panel discussions, speakers and activists at the ‘Eco Teach In’ Rally, an organic celebrity chef showcase, organic and vegan food courts, wine and beer gardens, clean energy zone, earth friendly products, an electric vehicle showcase, kids’ zone, a Psychedelic Eco Fashion Show and tons more. Admission is free.

London:

If you’re in London, don’t miss EMPOWER – Earth Day Celebration at The Hive, 260-264 Kingsland Road. This action–packed, not-for-profit environmental event includes yoga classes, workshops, live music, DJs, art installations, short screenings, environmental talks, yoga, ecstatic dance, sound and meditation workshops, ethical stalls, a vegan cafe, cacao bar and more. Admission is £12 ($15 U.S.) in advance and £15 ($19 U.S.) at the door.

New York:

Held on Tuesday, April 18, noon – 7:00 p.m. in Union Square, the annual outdoor Earth Day New York 2017 event features dozens of exhibitors, including environmental nonprofits, green businesses, kids’ activities, and live performances. With more than 70 organizations represented, there is something for everyone. Or, join fellow earth lovers April 21 for the Earth Day 5K Green Tour. Past sites on the tour have included a rooftop farm in Midtown Manhattan, the Lowline Lab, a natural food cooking school, and a composting site. Go from site-to-site and learn about what groups are doing to help green the city.

Dallas:

Everything is bigger in Texas, and that goes for Earth Day Texas (EDTx), too! This three-day free event, held April 21-23, is the largest event in the world of its kind. Founded in 2011, the event has grown to occupy approximately one million square feet of indoor and outdoor event space in Dallas’ historic Fair Park. Attendees will learn from environmental organizations, businesses, academic institutions, speakers, interactive programming and enjoy live music and sustainable beer and food pavilions.

Indianapolis:

The 2017 Earth Day Indiana Festival will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Historic Military Park at White River State Park. The festival offers local food vendors, kids’ activities, over 125 exhibitors, live music, and a beer garden. Put on your running/walking shoes and participate in the Recycle Run 5K along the White River. The 5K begins at noon and finishes at Historic Military Park at White River State Park.

All events take place on Saturday, April 22 unless otherwise noted.
