Here are a few of his recommendations: Chicago offers a plethora of options to see the city from the water. There are several boat operators at Navy Pier, including Chicago’s own Tall Ship. Interactive programs include the Real Pirates of the Inland Seas, Spirit Ships & Haunted Harbors, fireworks cruises and more. One of the most popular tours is provided by the Chicago Architecture Foundation (CAF). The CAF-certified volunteer tour guides interpret more than 50 buildings along the Chicago River, revealing how the city grew from a back-country outpost to one of the world’s most important crossroads in less than 100 years. City Sightseeing Boat Cruises in New York lets visitors explore the city’s most iconic sites by land and by sea. Included are the Statue of Liberty, the skyline and the bridges that bring the boroughs together. It also has stops in midtown and downtown Manhattan and Brooklyn. Since it is hop-on-hop-off, passengers choose where they want to explore and then can hop back on to the next destination. The River Boats on the River Walk in San Antonio provide several options for enjoy the popular River Walk on a boat. There are dinner cruises for elegant dining while viewing the sites, and barges, which provide narratives of the rich history of the San Antonio River Walk. The cruises are about 35 minutes long and cover one and a half miles of the beautiful San Antonio River Walk. For something different in Ft. Lauderdale, try one of its River Cruises. Passengers will cruise the Intracoastal Waterway and Port Everglades in luxury yachts. Narration is provided by Coast Guard licensed captains and tour host, describing the sights, the history and legends of the waterways. On the west coast, join Argosy Cruises in Seattle, which offers tours of the city’s harbor with views of the skyline and the Olympic and Cascade Mountains. The Harbor Cruise tour of Elliott Bay showcases one of the world’s largest and busiest shipyards. Seattle Tours show off the city’s important lakes, Lake Union and Lake Washington. Passengers will hear a live narration about points of interest and historical facts. Sites include Seattle’s historic houseboat community, mansions, nautical activities and views of Mount Rainier.
