While Chicago is probably known more for its infamousgangsters than ghosts, ChicagoHauntings Tours offers multiple bus tours exploring the city’s dark past led and narrated by 25-year veteran paranormal researcher Ursula Bielski, expert historians and paranormalinvestigators. Participants will visit spooky spots including murder and disastersites; a serial killer’s body dump; haunted houses and abandoned graveyards. Thetours provide accurate historical information but don’t be surprised if aghostly resident makes an appearance.Tours operate year round.

Providence Rhode Island offers a lantern-lit Ghost Tour that takes paranormal enthusiasts through the streets of the historic East Side. Guides will tell chilling stories about local murders, suicides and unusual deaths that have left the victims to roam the streets in ghostly forms. Tours take place nightly now through November, starting at 7 p.m. Summer tours start at 8.

Austin Ghost Tours offers several guided walking tours through the streets and telling the stories of downtown Austin. Begin on Friday night for Shadows and Alleyways of the Capital and follow the phantom footsteps to the first hospital in Austin, the old jailhouse the Driskill Hotel and more. Two tours are offered Saturdays: The Haunted Historic District, which features firsthand experiences and photographic proof of the paranormal, and the Historic Red Light and Warehouse District, which includes the tale of the Servant Girl Annihilator.
The 90-minute tours are held year-round.

New Orleans is one of America’s most haunted cities and the Haunted New Orleans Tour in the French Quarter won’t disappoint. See the Haunted Mansion on Royal Street, where victims of criminal Delphine LaLaurie still scream at night, and the home on Dauphine Street to hear the story of the Sultan’s ghost. On rainy nights, listen for Pere Dagobert, the French monk whose singing haunts in New Orleans rain. Tours are offered year round.

Not all the dead are grateful in San Francisco! Take the Haunted Haight Walking Tour, and visit the creepiest areas in town where infamous murders and cult leaders alike once lived along the Haight-Ashbury district. The stories you’ll hear are the well-documented tales of legendary local ghosts and phenomena. At the end, patrons can enjoy a brew at a haunted pub. This two-hour tour is not recommended for children under the age of 13.
