Should an International Air Transport Association (IATA) airline bankruptcy leave passengers stranded, the association will provide travelers with “rescue fares” to ensure passengers can fly home, according to a recent news release posted on eturbonews.com.
IATA airline members flying to and from the European Union will provide the passengers with the discounted rescue fares which will be available for up to two weeks after the financial failure of the airline.
The association estimates that between 2011 and 2020 only .07 percent of customers experienced this travel difficulty. The IATA represents 84 percent of all global air traffic.
