Just over 90 percent of travelers who use airport shuttles or other shared-ride services say it is very important (75 percent) or important (16 percent) to have professionally trained drivers that are certified by the Department of Transportation (DOT).
To date, 379 people responded to a survey conducted by GO Airport Express, a Chicago-based ground transportation service and GO Airport Shuttle, an international transportation provider.
Five percent of respondents didn’t consider either important or unimportant; one percent replied it wasn’t important while almost four percent noted they didn’t know or hadn’t given the matter any thought.
“As the shared-ride and ground transportation industry continues to grow and evolve, passenger safety is of paramount importance and should not be compromised for the sake of convenience or cost,” says John McCarthy, president, GO Airport Express. “All the drivers at GO Airport Express and our GO Group partners meet all DOT requirements.”
GO Airport Express, one of the oldest companies in Chicago, traces its founding to 1853 and the Parmelee Transportation Company, which provided a carriage service between Chicago’s railroad stations and the downtown hotels. The GO Group LLC is the nation’s largest airport transportation provider, serving some 60 airports in North America, Mexico, the Caribbean and Europe and transporting more than 13 million passengers per year.
