Where will you be this Sunday? Chances are you’re heading to a sports bar to watch the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks battle it out in Super Bowl XLIX. Somehow it’s just more fun to watch the game (not to mention the commercials) surrounded by like-minded sports fans. Nowhere is the cheering likely to be louder or more partisan than in the sports bars of Boston and Seattle where fan fever will be at its highest pitch. Our traveling mascot, Vinnie Van Go, has done a little research to identify the best sports bars in each of those team hometowns. Here are his recommendations.
Boston
The Fours, which has operations in Boston, Norwell and Quincy, is a Boston tradition since 1976. It was named “Best Sports Bar in America” by Sports Illustrated. Menu items include: New England clamchowder, Buffalo chicken nachos, hand cut steak tips and the Bobby Orr steak sandwich.
Seattle
On the other side of the country, the best action is likely to be at The Hawks Nest Bar & Grill. Creative menu specialties include the Seattle dog, topped with cream cheese and onion; the peanut butter and bacon burger, and Poutine, seasoned battered waffle fries topped with brown gravy and goat cheese crumbles. What’s your favorite sports bar? Vinnie would love to hear your recommendations as well.
