In 2009 a monumental underwater contemporary museum of art called MUSA (Museo Subacuático de Arte) was formed in the waters surrounding Cancun, Isla Mujeres and Punta Nizuc. The Museum aims to demonstrate the interaction between art and environmental science and form part of a complex reef structure for marine life to colonize and inhabit whilst increasing biomass on a grand scale. All of the sculptures are fixed to the seabed and made from specialized materials used to promote coral life. Visitors can see the museum via glass bottom boat plus snorkeling an scuba diving tours. The Museum has received worldwide acclaim.

El festival de la cerveza
Held every April, this event offers a great opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of beers ranging from dark, clear, Mexican, German, different aromas, flavors and ranges. Always accompanied by excellent music and an unforgettable view of the turquoise sea of Puerto Morelos.
Mayan Madness in Tulum
Held in the spring, more than 5,000 music lovers attend this festival organized by Telehit in the Riviera Maya, with world-class DJ`s. Mayan Madness seeks to support local, musical, artistic, gastronomic and artisan talent, with a crafts market, a variety of high quality food, artistic performances and a very complete platform to catapult the success of emerging talent.
Festival Vida y Muerte Xcaret
The multi-day Vida y Muerte, the festival of Xcaret promises big fun for attendees. Xcaret Park honors this great event, declared a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, by celebrating the Festival of Life and Death Traditions every year on October 30th and 31st and on November 1st and 2nd. During this festivity you will be able to experience the Hanal Pixan ritual (food for the souls), regional cuisine, workshops, crafts, gifts and altars, visual arts, exhibitions, theater, dance and gala concerts. Visit Xcaret Park and enjoy this celebration of the Mayan World dedicated to the memory and coexistence with the deceased.
The February Carnival
Carnival is celebrated across Mexico and Cancun is no exception. A cheerful celebration, the people of the Island use the occasion to create many “comparsas” (groups of people, vehicles and dances with many themes). People of all ages participate, dressing in special costumes ”rumberos”•or Aztec and Maya Indians. Cancun and the entire Maya Riveriera have special events to coincide with the annual festival with local hotels, restaurants and shops participating.

Museo maya de Cancún
This is the most important museum that has been developed by the National Institute of Anthropology and History since the construction of the National Museum of Anthropology (1964) and the Museo del Templo Mayor (1987). It shelters one of the most significant archaeological collections of the Mayan
culture of the country, therefore not only the most important pieces of the State of Quintana Roo, but a selection of emblematic pieces from the sites of Palenque, Chichén Itzá, and Comalcalco, among others.

Equinox at the Temple of Kukulkan
During each spring and fall equinox in Chichén Itzá, the great pyramid of Kukulcán visually represents day and night as the sun, serpent-like, slithers down its staircase and reveals the pattern play of time upon its ancient ruins. In celebration of Mayan achievements in astronomy and the culture’s fixation on time and its passing, people gather at the pyramid twice a year out of respect and admiration for the dew-drenched Mayan pyramid in all its history and glory.
Holbox Island
Located to the northwest of Cancun, Mexico, Holbox Island is a small, quiet island which gives sanctuary to thousands of flamingos, pelicans and other exotic birds and creatures. Very few outsiders visit his island!

Scuba diving and snorkeling
Ocean enthusiasts will not want to miss out on the many opportunities to dive in the area. Expect to find stunning coral reefs, abundant sea life and shipwrecks. Not yet ready to take the plunge? Try a glass bottom boat instead!
Cenotes (Cave Diving)
More experienced divers may want to try diving in the underwater caves and caverns in the Yucatan Peninsula. Expect to see stunning formations of stalagmites and stalactites.
Tiburón Ballena (whale shark)
From May 15 to September 15, more than 1,400 whale sharks are expected to be present between the island of Contoy and Holbox, where the largest fish in the world comes every year, in the Yum Balam reserve, located in the municipality of Lázaro Cárdenas in Quintana Roo. Several local operators offer boat and snorkeling tours to swim with these gentle giants.
